My name is Elisa Kennemer and I am the owner of Elisalou Designs. I
am not the best at describing myself but let's see….I went to the University of
Texas in Austin and majored in Art and Photography. I met my husband
there. We named our first kid Austin after the cool city where we met. He's a pretty cool kid so it all made sense.
We now have 4 kids. The rest weren't named after cities but they are
still pretty cool. Well most of the time. We have one in every school-
high school, middle school, elementary school, and preschool. Yes we are a
little bit crazy.
We also have three dogs. I love dogs. I really thought I wanted
to be a vet. But I had kids instead. Not that you can't do both, but
you know well I just didn't.
I have lived all over the US, most recently a year down in Chapel Hill,
North Carolina and hands down- Worthington, Ohio is the best place to raise
kids. I'm not kidding. It really is. And I'm a beach girl. I've lived in California, and I still think Ohio rocks. So there you go.
I started a blog a while back and then took it public a few years later. One of the best things I have ever done. I love looking back on the bits and pieces of our life. Well sorta, sometimes I look back and it makes me cry. A good cry. I think.
When I am alone working in the studio I play music really loud. I will probably be deaf when I am older. But I am thinking it will be worth it. Foo Fighters are the best band ever. And best played loud. My boys play guitar. I wish I could play the guitar. But there are only so many hours in the day.
I started my company after I had my 3rd son, who just turned 10 (gasp).
I made a cool messenger bag to use as a diaper bag and everywhere I went
people asked where I got it. I had previously owned a jewelry business in
Texas so it was fun to go down a different path. Things took off quicker
than I anticipated but we rolled with it, hired help, and learned how to run the
business and keep the family as the top priority. Did I mention I have 4
kids? Yeah I probably did. 4. FOUR. That's a lot.
They are loud, and needy, even the oldest. Oh and they have lots of friends…. Our house can be crazy.
I would not change a thing.
